Far Infrared

In professional soccer, the rapid recovery is essential to maintain a high level of performance, especially with busy schedules of 60 or more games per season. A new study published in the Scandinavian Journal of Medicine & Science in Sports(1) could well revolutionize player recovery thanks to an innovative technology: the far infrared (FIR) therapy.

What is FIR therapy? 🔥

FIR therapy uses far infraredeither by a specific lamp, or by reflecting the human body's own infrared radiation, to stimulate the muscle recovery. Already used in certain medical fields, this technology is now making its entry into the world of top-level sport, and more particularly soccer.

Key study results 🔍

The study carried out on 24 elite female soccer players after a 90-minute simulated match showed significant results for the FIR therapy group.

    1. Faster muscle recovery :
      • Muscular strength After 48 hours, the FIR group had recovered 99 % of muscle strength, compared with only 89 % for the placebo group.
      • Muscle pain Peak pain was 16/100 in the FIR group, versus 33/100 in the placebo group.
      • Blood markers Creatine kinase levels (a marker of muscle damage) peaked at 172 IU/L in the FIR group, versus 466 IU/L for placebo.
    2. Performance enhancement :
      • Counter-movement jump The FIR group recovered 100 % of its jumping ability in 48 hours, compared with 94 % for the placebo.
      • 30-meter sprint The FIR group maintained 100 % of speed after 48 hours, compared with 94 % for placebo.
      • Yo-Yo test (endurance) The FIR group recovered 100 % of endurance, compared with 91 % for the placebo.
    3. Reduced recovery time :
      • The FIR group recovered fully in 3 days, while the placebo group required a further 4 to 5 days.

Implications for Professional Football ⚽️

This discovery could have serious repercussions for both professional and amateur soccer teams. Speed up recovery could enable players to maintain a high level of performance on the pitch, even during the most demanding competitions such as the World Cup.

Imagine a team able to recover in just 3 daysas opposed to the usual 5 days. A major step forward in the world of soccer.

How does FIR Therapy work? 🔬

Although the mechanisms are not yet fully understood, the researchers suggest that FIR therapy could :

  • Increase blood circulation,
  • Reduce inflammation,
  • Stimulate tissue regeneration.

IAKOTA Technology and Far Infrared 🌙

At IAKOTA, we have integrated this far-infrared technology into our products. mattress topper to optimize athletes' recovery. The Minoxis technologyused in our products, reflects the infrared rays naturally emitted by the body, while improving the quality of life. microcirculation and reducing inflammation.

  • IAKOTA Terra Lite mattress topper Designed to stimulate muscle recovery, it uses FIR technology to increase deep sleep, reduce oxidative stress and optimize heart rate variability (HRV)key indicator of recovery.
  • IAKOTA night masks In addition to helping you fall asleep faster and sleep more soundly, our masks help to reduce dry eyes while stimulating mental recovery grounding and FIR technology.

Conclusion

Far-infrared (FIR) therapy is a promising solution for speed up muscle recovery for footballers. Simple, inexpensive and effective, it could soon become an essential part of the recovery process for top-level athletes. Imagine IAKOTA mattress topper in the bedrooms of top players, maximizing their night-time recovery and improving their performance.
